Since Haiti is an island it is made of many mountains and underwater volcanoes. The tallest of all the mountains on Hispaniola is called Pica la Selle. Located in the south region of Haiti, Pic la Selle reaches heights of over 2680 meters, which is the tallest mountain on Hispaniola and the second tallest mountain in the Caribbean. Pic la Selle is not only very tall but it is also very wide, with a length of 72 kilometers, it reaches from the border with the Dominican Republic all the way to not far from Port-au-Prince. Pic la Selle is full of nature and is surrounded by lakes and rivers. It is also the home to many endangered animals such as birds, frogs, and other reptiles, and there are also many little villages and people who also live on the mountain. Although because of lots of deforestation, lots of the nature on Pic la Selle have been lost leaving lots of rocky patches. The deforestation has also made Pic la Selle more vulnerable to floods and landslides.
